⁠How to Motivate Yourself for More Than a Day⁠⠀

1. Focus on the Who not just the What.⁠⠀
When deciding to do something we might not want to do but know we should, it’s always helpful to ask a “what if, who else” question. Meaning, “What if I don’t do this task, who else will be affected?” Also consider “What if I do this task, who else will be affected?” This can create a higher level of commitment, one most associated with a person’s values and beliefs. If you value others and your responsibility to others, it’s much more difficult to let them down. However, if you only feel like your actions affect you and that you would only be disappointing yourself, it might be easier to let yourself down with less guilt. ⁠⠀

2. Education vs. Inspiration⁠⠀
They say that more is caught than taught. This is most definitely true about kids. (If you have them, you will agree.) We learn so much by observing and through exposure, but in order to gain consistent motivation the brain needs to be challenged. If we only do what’s easy, our brain grows accustomed to this and doesn’t respond the same way from a “mental muscle” perspective. The brain must be consistently and repeatedly challenged in order to continue to grow and develop. Think about it: If you only lifted a 2-lb. dumbbell when doing your biceps curls, would you really get much stronger over time? Wouldn’t you also get bored quickly with the lack of challenge devoted to the exercise?⁠⠀

3. Exercise is Medicine⁠⠀
Research shows that not only is exercise one of the few key ingredients to longevity and health, but the chemicals produced will also help grow brain cells and spark motivation. A protein called BDNF is produced with higher intensity exercise and has been shown to facilitate Neurogenesis (the growth of new nerve cells) Author: @PTAGlobal #repost
